Samhain marks the end of the harvest season, and you must bring in the rest of your crop before the frost sets in. 

In Celtic folklore, the Púca is a shapeshifting trickster who may be encountered on November 1, when the harvest has ended and winter begins. Some Irish legends say that when frost has settled over fruits, you must not eat them - it is the spit of the Púca!
